Who You'll Work With
You will join McKinsey Legal's Litigation & Investigations team reporting to the Managing Counsel for Litigation & Investigations and based in one of our major east-coast U.S. cities' offices (New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, or Pittsburgh). The group supports the firm on global litigation, investigations and related matters, including crisis management. You will work closely with senior firm and Legal colleagues, including Communications, Risk, Compliance, IT, Insurance, and Finance.
What You'll Do
You will have responsibilities that include managing complex litigation matters, including civil litigation and government investigations; overseeing outside counsel, developing overall strategy, scoping internal fact-finding, ensuring compliance with document discovery obligations, preparing witnesses for external interviews and depositions; managing interactions with government authorities; and, driving internal investigations, including disciplinary matters.
You will advise internal clients on litigation risk and provide counsel on potential or threatened litigation; partner with Communications on internal and external responses to litigation and investigation matters; and, identify process improvements and help develop resources, tools and policies that help drive consistent implementation across our matters to ensure timely and appropriate investigation management and reporting.
You will work with Risk, IT, Compliance and HR colleagues to identify trends, flag developing risks and develop and implement appropriate mitigation plans. You will also counsel consultants on a variety of legal issues related to litigation and investigations.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience with top international law firm, in-house and/or regulatory experience, with focus on litigation
  • Complete facility with the FCPA, U.K. Bribery Act, and other anti-corruption laws; significant demonstrated experience investigating internal and government-facing FCPA, and other corruption-related matters is required, as is having deep experience working on anti-corruption-related controls
  • Deep crisis management experience
  • Government, prosecutorial experience and/or prior in-house experience a plus
  • Strong experience with eDiscovery
  • Capable of working across geographies with sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Top academic credentials
  • Excellent English language skills (helpful if candidate has other language skills)
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Team player who is confident, highly collaborative and flexible
  • Self-starter with ability to drive tasks and projects to completion
  • Impeccable business judgment and ethics
  • Ability to develop relationships and network within and outside the company
  • Relationships with top outside legal advisors is a plus
  • Enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, dynamic professional services company
