Your Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer for Cloud and On-prem operations to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing databases both on-premises and in the cloud, with a primary focus on migrating and transforming on-premises data to cloud-based solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of database technologies, cloud platforms, and data migration strategies. Ensure sound security, integrity controls and monitoring protocols are in place. Define and specify database access, structure, and functional capabilities, together with users and assigned personnel.

What You'll Do (Primary Responsibilities):

  • Design and implement data migration strategies to move on-premises databases to cloud platforms such as AWS, or other providers.
  • Evaluate existing on-premises database infrastructure and recommend cloud-based solutions for optimization and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate cloud-based database solutions.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline the data migration process and ensure data integrity during the transition.
  • Configure and optimize cloud database instances for performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database migration, performance, and reliability.
  • Implement best practices for data management, backup, and disaster recovery in the cloud environment.
  • Monitors database performance and works closely with developers and users to tune queries and optimize database performance.
  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and supports database systems, working closely with Content production staff to anticipate and meet program requirements for database infrastructure.
  • Assures systems quality and maintenance of database dictionaries.
  • Responsible for refreshing development and test databases from production data using NetApp Snapcenter toolsets.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as part of a DBA team (Bi-weekly rotation)
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard data against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.

Your Team: Database Operations - Oracle, MySQL, Aurora RDS


About You:

  • 4+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, AWS RDS).
  • 2+ years of experience in design and implementation of large-scale database servers in on-premises or cloud environments.
  • Operations and/or solution deployment experience in a business-critical, high-availability context.
  • Working knowledge of Storage technologies (NetApp SnapCenter preferred), shell scripting, SQL Plus or off the shelf SQL tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise or additional certification in Oracle and database administration.
  • Experience with code repositories and automation such as GitHub or Flyway.
  • Experience in database development and coding in various languages (SQL, PL SQL, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (New Relic, CloudWatch, Nagios XI, OpsGenie, etc.)
  • Understand and interpret infrastructure requirements such as Networking, Storage, and Hardware Optimization.
  • Implementation and tuning experience of databases
  • Knowledge of Schema Design, Query Tuning and Optimization, and Data Migration and Integrations.

Our Offer to You:

Target Annual Compensation Range: $95,000 - $120,000

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location.
